This is powerful music. As someone noted, there are other Unbroken Chains with massive ending jams, lots of well played versions exist. But there's something so definitive about this version. Warren's playing was just magical at so many of these PLQ shows in 2000-2002. And it's captured perfectly on this Unbroken Chain. It's been my go-to version for 22 years, and always will be I suspect.

Got to go to this show with friends and knew at the time how hard Phil and his Friends totally rocked it!!! At the end Phil was obviously pleased when he called all of his bandmates over for a group hug. Being able to get the soundboard not too long afterwards was a beautiful gift.
At the time The Dead's music was like a predawn darkness that was trying to rise, but never quite seemed able to break the horizon, so I continued to follow Phil.
The music he and his friends are producing at Terrapin Crossroads continues to get better and better--John Mayer as a guest just over a week ago was so fun--Stu Allen was better than I had every heard him--both playing and singing--what a great life to be able to enjoy all this great music. Thank you Phil!!

This brings back a lot of good memories from this joyous evening at the old Wiltern (back when it still had seats downstairs). The Quintet was on fire this night. The China Cat > Eleven speaks for itself. Listen to it! At the time, I didn't realize how lucky we were to see Phil playing with Jimmy and Warren. This was a great band.

check out the terrapin>stella blue>Terrapin>Jam>slipknot>franklins tower for mindblowing jamming. the interplay between jimmey and warren is great. great phil and friends show tha its worth the d/l. And its a soundboard, don't get better then that

without a doubt one of the best shows of the year of not the best.
lets talk about the unbroken chain for a minute. there were better ending jams , see http://www.archive.org/download/2003-09-25.paf.sbd.wizard.20188.sbeok.flacf/pf-20030925-disc301_vbr.mp3 for the absolute best one where warren comes up with the purest melody ever i ever heard , starting at 10.5 minutes in ... but where the main 3 minute mark jams are concerned this is the best one . this is the pure foundation laid that all the future unbrokens
built off of. i have air guitared and pianoed jimmy robs and warrens solos close to 200 times no shit.
